The 13 and 14-year-olds, from Richard Lander School, Penair School, and Redruth School, stopped by Barchester’s Kenwyn Care Home as part of the Citizenship for Life programme.
The programme aims to inspire young people and give them valuable insights into different aspects of life and community.
During the visit, the students learned about later life and the vital role care workers play in providing support and companionship.
They chatted with residents, sharing stories and experiences, and gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of care in the community.
Operations manager Amanda Oxley said: “We are always thrilled to welcome visitors into our home, and the Citizenship for Life team brought buckets of energy and enthusiasm.
“It was a wonderful opportunity for our residents to interact with young people and share their experiences while also helping the students gain a valuable perspective on later life.”
The residents appreciated the social interaction and the connection to their wider community, while the students left with new insights and inspiration.
The care home provides a varied life enrichment programme to keep residents active.
This involves a daily choice of engaging physical, mental, and spiritual activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
Kenwyn Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers.
The care provider is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals.
It provides nursing, residential, and respite care.
