Pupils achieved more than 500 grades at 9–7 across 22 subjects, with almost one-third of those at grades 9 and 8—more than double the national average.
Andy Johnson, head of Truro School, said: “I am immensely proud of our GCSE pupils and all that they have achieved.
“Their academic successes are all the more impressive as they are obtained alongside so many other impressive achievements and so much personal growth.
“We are a school that actively champions and resources a breadth of opportunity that enables the children to thrive and discover their own excellence, inside and beyond the classroom.”
Beyond the classroom, 105 pupils completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, with 60 progressing to Silver.
Half of the year group represented the school in sports fixtures across 11 disciplines, including the U16 girls’ football team, who won the County Cup.
Other pupils have competed at national and World Championship level in their respective sports.
The school also celebrated success in the creative arts, with pupils performing in a full-scale musical production of Chicago, concerts at the Hall for Cornwall, and appearances on festival stages.
Senior choristers were broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.
Mr Johnson said: “Our pupils come to Truro School to flourish as young people in an ambitious, caring and values-based environment that celebrates excellence in all its forms.
“Today we are especially proud of their academic successes, but we value them and all they achieve in every area of school life.”
Johanna Egar, head of Year 11, praised the resilience of the cohort, who began senior school during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ms Egar said: “I am incredibly proud of everything this year group has achieved.
“They began their senior school journeys during the disruption of the Covid pandemic, and the resilience and determination they have shown since then makes today’s successes even more remarkable.”
The school now looks forward to welcoming many of these pupils into its sixth form, alongside newcomers from other schools.
Truro School will hold an open morning on Saturday, October 3, 2025, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
