Murder investigation underway after man found dead in Truro

Police were called to a property in the Polruan Road area at around 7.20am on Wednesday, 29 October, after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man. Emergency services attended the scene, where the man was pronounced dead.

A 23-year-old man from Truro has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Officers have been granted a warrant of further detention, allowing them to hold the suspect for an additional 36 hours.

Detective Superintendent Rachael Bentley confirmed that the deceased and the suspect were known to each other and described the incident as isolated. ‘We are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding this case,’ she said. ‘A cordon is currently in place and is expected to remain for several days as our investigation continues.’

Residents can expect an increased police presence in the area. Bentley encouraged anyone with concerns to speak with officers on patrol.
