Today’s instalment of Channel 4’s Four in a Bed saw the payment day for this week’s B&B owners.
The Bickford Arms’ Keith, Newchester Farmhouse’s Abby, The Quay Inn’s Collette and Danny and Justin and Mike from Old Walls Vineyard Luxury Lodges have spent this week battling it out to win the coveted plaque.
There has been arguments about sausages, dispute over eggs and a whole lot of love for luxury from Collette, but it all came down to payday.
Before the episode aired, viewers seemed to be in favour of Abby from Merriott in Somerset winning the prize.
One viewer (@emilyfi_ona) tweeted: “Literally in love with and want to be Abby off #fourinabed like she makes granola and loves nature and has chickens – it’s the dream”.
Another, pointing to the common view that Collette and Danny were playing a game, tweeted: “If Collette underpays Abby, am kicking off”.

Keith Reynolds, first to host this week at The Bickford Arms in Devon, kicked things off with a very understanding tone – taking it all in his stride.
Though some viewers had some words to say on the topic of gritty baths, when Collette and Danny offered to clean Keith’s bathroom for him. Apparently, one must polish the bath after cleaning it.
Twitter user @clsyoshimoo, wrote: “Anybody polish the bath after…..anyone???”
They underpaid him by £10 which meant Keith received a percentage of 97%.
Next up was fan-favourite Abby Norton of Newchester Farmhouse B&B in Somerset, who received merely a bit of criticism for her lack of teletext in Keith’s room.
One viewer tweeted: “Teletext?! “First thing I do in the morning is send a telegram to my dying aunt, then I go for a cycle on my Penny farthing.””
Despite that, however, she received a full payment from Collette and Danny, as well as the other hosts.
Three full payments excited viewers. One wrote: “Blimey! I’m shocked!”
A second said: “100% deserved” while a third simply wrote: “Get in Abby! Yes!”
Collette and Danny – the pair viewers have loved to hate this week – were up next.
One viewer (@shrimp14819363) worried: “If someone over pays Collette I’m gonna lose it !”
Another (Tongueflicker) said: “Colette to murder the lot of them and turn them into sausages.”
But, surprisingly, Collette seemed to take her feedback rather well.
Her fellow contestants said it had gone “better than expected”.
When Abby overpaid Collette, though, Twitter went into turmoil.
All that the majority of viewers could say was “noooooooooo”.
Another said: “Oh Abby you’ve let the nasty woman win”.
Keith’s underpayment of £10 for a dodgy bath panel meant The Quay Inn’s bill percentage was 102%.
When it came to Justin and Mike’s turn, Twitter was already resigned to the fact that their favourite was out of the running to win.
Abby paid the boys in full, Keith underpaid by £50 and Collette and Danny underpaid by a whopping £60.20.
Old Walls Vineyard received a final bill average of 83%.
Viewers dubbed both Keith and Collette and Danny as “game players” with one Twitter user (@jonnytvaddict) saying: “Game players. To Collette, staying in a nice room would be like throwing pearls to pigs”.
When the final results revealed, Twitter were determined to share their love for Abby and their shock at her not being crowned today’s winner.
Twitter user @msjenmac suggested: “New idea: there should be a People’s Champion plaque for weeks where they have lovely people like Abby and award it after a look at this feed.”
While @Crazier said Abby missing out on the win was “absolute b******s. Twitter collectively boo’s at that result.”
Fan favourite Abby took her defeat very graciously, saying: “I’m really delighted with second place. Collette and Danny deserved to win.”
Collette said: “I am ecstatic to have won. I never expected it when we came into the competition.”
And Danny, like viewers, thought Abby should’ve won.
