Truck overturns after skidding on oil – live updates

A road in Penzance is closed in both directions after a truck skidded on oil and overturned.

Traffic and travel monitoring service Inrix originally reported that the vehicle had overturned at Mount Misery Roundabout in Penzance, Cornwall, this afternoon. Police have confirmed that the road has been closed while the emergency services deal with the incident.

The incident has occurred around 100 metres from the A30 roundabout (Mount Misery) on the St Just road.

Oil is said to be spilled in the road and recovery is currently being arranged, according to Devon and Cornwall Police.

Photographs of the scene show the truck turned on its side on the road, as police attend the incident while recovery is arranged and takes place.

Inrix says: “A30 partially blocked, slow traffic due to overturned lorry and fuel spillage at Mount Misery Roundabout.

“On the roundabout. Affecting all the approaches to the roundabout.”

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Reports of a truck on its side and oil on the road on the A30 at St Just at around 1.30pm.

“The driver is out of the vehicle and is believed to have suffered a minor injury.

“The road is closed in both directions.

“Recovery is currently being arranged.”
