Plans for a £35m luxury apartment block shaped like a cruise liner have been unveiled in Falmouth.
The Liner is the latest development by Acorn Property Group and will include 53 luxury apartments all with sea views, including two duplex penthouses.
But to enjoy one of the best views in Cornwall over Falmouth Bay won’t come cheap. The apartments range in price from £325,000 up to £1.6m for the penthouses.
Situated on Cliff Road above Gyllyngvase Beach and next to the St Michaels Resort luxury hotel and spa, the Liner is a six-storey ocean liner-style building complete with parking and surfboard-style lockers.
It replaces the former Falmouth Beach Hotel, which operated on the site between 1984 to 2012, which itself replaced an original, nautically-themed, Victorian hotel known as The Pentargan Hotel.
Planning permission for the project was granted in 2018 and developers Acorn Property Group said the building and its 113 bedrooms, 75 of which will have sea views, will be completed in spring 2021.
The company said that already 70 per cent of the flats have been bought off plans mainly to owner-occupiers, second homeowners and retirement households.

Stuart Brereton, managing director of Acorn Blue, Acorn Property Group’s Cornwall region, said: “The Liner is a bold and imaginative regeneration project providing nautical inspired architecture and bespoke design apartments that provide the very best in beachfront living in Cornwall.”
The building taking shape was designed by Poynton Bradbury Wynter Cole Architects, and according to Acorn Property Group, will offer the ‘very best in nautical inspired contemporary coastal living’.
Mr Brereton said: “Instead of a conventional footprint and façade, the ‘V’ shaped six-storey building is designed to echo the sleek bow and upper decks of an ocean liner, with even a ‘bridge’, containing penthouses, on the top of the building.
“On the ground floor there will be 3,000sq ft retail unit/shop, opening onto the beachfront, while the curved roofline has been designed like ocean waves.
“On the penthouse upper level, housed within the ‘bridge’, are two VIP bedroom suites, one with a walk-in dressing room and en-suite bathroom and the other with an en-suite and private rooftop balcony.”
