Stay at Doc Martin’s actual surgery in Cornwall

Have you ever been jealous of Doc Martin – moving away from the big city and enjoying a (relatively) peaceful life down in the seaside town of Portwenn?

While the town itself is fictitious, the location is none other than Port Isaac on the coast of North Cornwall.

Around ten miles away from Wadebridge and Camelford, it makes an idyllic holiday location for any fan of seaside living.

But that’s not all, if you’re a fan of the hit ITV show, you can now stay in Doc Martin’s surgery and you don’t even have to be a fully fledged GP.

It’s safe to say we’ll be needing something to help us get our fix of the show, as it has today (September 7) been confirmed that the next season will be its last.

Season 10 will begin filming next Spring, with the air date looking to be later in 2021.

But why wait, when you can re-enact the Doc’s daily routine, albeit without the medical bits, from the comfort of the quaint filming location.

Just imagine waking up to the sound of seagulls, heading down that steep hill, looking out for Bert Large and wondering who’ll get into mischief next.

The detached two-bedroom cottage, which has housed Martin Clunes’ character for almost 16 years, can be rented for around £245 per night, for a minimum of 3-5 nights and can sleep up to four people.

What’s inside?

The ground floor of Fern Cottage boasts an entrance hall, cloakroom/WC, a sitting room with a stone fireplace, beamed ceiling and slate flagged floor.

There’s also a separate dining room with a cosy log burner and a modern fitted galley kitchen.

The first floor comes complete with a landing on which you can look straight out onto the harbour.

There are two spacious double bedrooms which also boast harbour and sea views, as well as fitted wardrobes and a large modern bathroom.

What’s more, outside you will find your very own car parking, as well as a slate sun terrace and raised lawned garden, which sits on two levels at the rear of the property.

Oh and you can find yet more sea views here, too.

If Fern Cottage isn’t available on your selected dates, fear not – you can try your luck at another two-bedroom cottage in the area, with the same ownership.
