Inspired by Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet’s onscreen exchange, there is a way you can swap homes – and lives – this year to make your staycation plans come true.
Or, of course, to let someone else enjoy your Cornish bolthole while you visit new horizons – like those featured here have done.
Inspired by the 2006 movie ‘The Holiday’, this platform allows travellers to enjoy the world through the power of sharing – making it an affordable and flexible way to travel too.
And there are some pretty spectacular Cornish properties that you could call your own with family and friends this year, or in true homage to the movie you can go solo to escape the woes of a broken heart.
Love Home Swap is a members-only global home swapping platform founded in the UK in 2011.
You can stay up to date on the top news and events near you with CornwallLive’s FREE newsletters – enter your email address at the top of the page.
The platform allows users to list their homes and then browse other properties owned by people who also want to swap lives – all over the world.
Although, that being said, you don’t go all out and swap cars and everything else like they do in the movie.
Here are some of our favourite properties from people in Cornwall that have already signed up:

Sea front paradise, Portwrinkle
What people had to say: “The property was well located with its own private pathway to the sea where we were able to have a dip before breakfast . Outstanding garden and offered a very large table for outside dinning. The use of the aga was a new experience which was enjoyable. Would like to return in the future.”

How does home-swapping work?
Members can choose from a classic, simultaneous swap, where they swap houses with someone else, either at the same time or on different dates, or a non-simultaneous points swap, allowing them to travel without having to match their plans with another member.
Members earn points for hosting, which they redeem when they decide to travel – they simply pay a small service fee based on the length of trip. Home swapping is a simple, cost-effective way for people to travel at a fraction of the traditional price, while staying in the comfort and safety of a home.
Types of Membership
People can sign up for a free two-week trial so they can have a look at how the site works and see if it is something for them. Then there are three types of membership, which are all billed annually – Lite, Standard and Platinum.
