Five crashes on A30 as freak hailstorm cause chaos for drivers

Police are dealing with multiple crashes on the A30 this evening due to treacherous icy conditions.

At least five incidents have been reported on the main road in and out of Cornwall with several more on side roads.

The A30 was shut in both directions at 5.30pm due to a multiple vehicle collision at Treswithian.

The eastbound side has since reopened but westbound remains shut while recovery takes place.

The Devon and Cornwall Police Force Incident Manager said emergency services were at the scene of several other incidents. There were no reports of serious injuries but police have issued a warning to drivers to be careful.

There are currently reports of incidents at Victoria, Bodmin and Camborne among other locations.
