Elderly woman cut free from car which flipped onto its side

A pensioner has been cut free from her car after it flipped onto its side. The crash, which involved two cars and a van, happened on the A39 near Trispen yesterday afternoon.

Police confirmed today that the woman, in her 80s, has been taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We were called at around 4.50pm with reports of a collision involving two cars and a van on the A39 at St Erme, Truro.

“One vehicle was on its side and a female trapped within. The casualty, aged in her 80s, was cut free by firefighters and taken to hospital in Treliske as a precaution. It is not believed that she sustained any life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

“No other injuries were reported. The road was reopened by 7.30pm.”
