Phillip Schofield has revealed he has tested positive for coronavirus.
Taking to Instagram on Monday night, the This Morning host posted a picture of himself with a positive lateral flow test.
“Well b******s!!” he wrote alongside the image of the test.
Reassuring fans on his health, Phillip, 59, who went to school in Newquay and whose mother still lives in the seaside town, added: “Currently just a slightly sore throat.”
It came hours after he appeared live on the ITV daytime show alongside Rochelle Humes.
It’s likely he will now be ruled out of hosting This Morning for at least five days, instead today’s episode (February 1) was hosted by Allison Hammond – who usually presents the series on Friday’s with Dermot O’Leary – and Rochelle Humes.
But Phillip still made an appearance, calling into the show from his house in London, posting on Instagram that it’s “Not quite how I planned to be on @thismorning today!!”
The presenter, who grew up in Newquay, will need two negative lateral flows tests to be able to return to his usual post on Dancing On Ice this Sunday. He usually hosts the ITV celebrity skating competition alongside Holly Willoughby, 40 who is also his co-presenter on This Morning.
Holly has been absent from the weekday daytime show for the past two weeks so she can present Wim Hof’s Superstar Survival alongside comedian Lee Mack.
Superstar Survival will see a whole host of famous faces take on Europe’s harshest conditions in a bid to tackle their demons.
The presenter will fly back to the UK at the weekends to film Dancing On Ice alongside Phillip.
