Coronavirus Covid case cluster map for Cornwall: midweek update

The midweek update on the Cornwall’s ‘cluster’ map shows a rise in cases but in fewer areas.

The number of areas seeing confirmed cases has reduced in the south-west of the county, with the Lizard Peninsula dropping off the map due to either no longer having any cases or not enough to reach the notification threshold.

Probus & Roseland also no longer shows cases, with Camborne East, Pool & Illogan Highway and Redruth South also coming off the list – although Hayle has been added.

It should be noted that the map showing on the government website as of today’s 4.43pm update runs a few days behind, meaning the cases represented on it were actually recorded in the seven days leading up to Friday last week (October 16).

Today’s map shows 155 cases in 23 clusters, compared to 114 cases in 26 cluster areas on the map last Friday.

The map shows positive cases by ‘Middle Super Output Area’ – the name the government gives to the break-up of larger towns and groups of neighbouring towns and villages, with groupings covering a greater area than others.

The minimum population each area is 5,000 and the average is 7,200.
